Last day… The stage was tiny but the club was huge. Went out to Lynn’s house for her home cooked dinner, which was very good and Italian. Thank you so much, that just rocked.

Went back to venue and met Liesl, who was 19 and not able to get in due to it being a 21+ show, but had emailed me and asked so nicely I just had to try for her. I snuck her in the back door and she gave presents to Sascha and was happy to meet him. However, when I went back outside to check out the line and meet the fans she got kicked out. That sucked but I made a new friend, we’ve spoken a lot since and I found out she was just very happy to meet Sascha so it made her night.

Sascha and Lucia called me over and gave me a gift I will never forget, a personalized Zippo Lighter that was engraved with “KMFDM WWIII TOUR 2003” on one side and “JEFF” on the other. I’d say it was a one of a kind, but there were three Jeff’s on our tour, so probably not unless there’s have nick names. Thank you so much guys, this really means a lot to me.

Sascha was supposed to have an interview with Josie Nutter today, but due to it being last show and Seattle, home town, they decided to postpone all the interviews for later. However, I really wanted to meet Josie. I have been a big fan of her web sites (she’s an amazing web designer) for a few years and she’s influence my style a lot as well as being partial inspiration for me to go back to school for Java Development. I met Josie and she was sweet as hell, very very cool, and it was an absolute pleasure to make her acquaintance.

I fell asleep during Bile (sorry guys, but I had wine with my dinner and wine knocks me out) woke up in time for KMFDM’s last set of the tour. The place was packed wall to wall, and the stage was absolutely tiny. But there was a feeing of electricity in the air that you hear about with these sort of events. I got a good place on the stairs overlooking the stage from the side but I knew from the start my zoom was going to have problems shooting through the smoke and there was no way to get any closer than I was to the without being on it or being crushed in the crowd. The show was amazing. During “Revenge” Steve Walsh came out dressed in Raymond’s first half of the show outfit and a wig , following Raymond onto the stage. “Bloody hell, not another one” was the quote Andy gave me as his response. Toward the middle of the set Rusty, Kenny and Skip decided to jump out on stage and stage dive into the crowd. But the best was the end… The crew wanted to have some fun with the band so during the last song, “Godlike”, All the crew except me and Matt (who was filming) took turns going onto the stage to start breaking down the drums. By the middle of the song Andy had no cymbals left and a few of his drums started to disappear. At the end of the song we were all cracking up as Duncan, rusty and Skip held cymbals in their hands over Andy’s drums so he could crash the final fills.

Over the next few hours I made sure to get pictures and autographs from everyone I could find, bands and crew, and spent a while in the dressing room talking to Raymond. We all took tons of pix, and I got the plastic windup pig I bought for Amber signed by all the Pig boys. Kenny gave me a Drum head Andy had used on stage and the band had all signed as well.

I did have a small drop of tears saying goodbye to Lucia, since without her none of this would have ever been possible. I thanked her for changing my life and helping to get me the best job I have ever had. It was difficult to finally get on the bus and go back to the hotel, but once we got there we all just sat in Matt’s room hanging out till the early morning laughing anyway.

The next morning I left for the Seattle Airport for the long flight home to Philadelphia. This was easily one of the most incredible experiences of my entire life. My first tour, hopefully not my last. I can only hope and pray that the next time KMFDM take the road, they take me with them. I learned a lot, grew a lot, and finally got to do what it is I went to college for, public relations. I loved meeting all the fans, taking photos of the band every night, and setting up the interviews. I have had an amazing experience and made some great friends and I miss everyone already. Within a week of the end of the tour I had already been called by Raymond and Steve and have gotten emails or IM’s from tons of fans across the country as well as most of the crew. I miss everyone and can’t wait to see you all again next tour!!!!!!

Email me with any questions, site ideas, photos, or just to chat at JeffC@kmfdm.net and ill try to get to everyone in a timely manner. We will most likely not be doing the Meet N Greets or Horde again, however when April comes and the last subscription runs out, we’ll figure out what’s next. Chances are we will be starting street teams and the leaders of the teams will organize the Meet N greet for each town, but as of right now, everything is just in the brainstorming phase. I can assure you this is going to be a very big and exciting year for KMFDM and nothing happens without you, the fans make this band and we hope everyone had as great a time on this tour as we did bringing it to you. It was a true pleasure.

Sincerely Jeff Cohn, KMFDM

View the Pix

Woke up to find we were at a truck stop with Bus problems, We were told it would probably be 15-20 minutes so half of us went ahead on the band bus and half of us stayed on our bus to wait. I knew it wasn’t necessary for me to be at the venue early so I stayed behind. The problem turned out to be worse then expected and we were stuck at the truck stop till 6pm when the club’s runner came to get the Bile boys and us in time for the show. Finally arrived at venue and quickly got a much needed shower, met Charlie Drown, talked to Lucia for a while then went to get drinks with Mike and Kate. Lucia got carded and had to go down four flights to get her ID, which left her in not such a good mood, though she took out her aggressions in a blistering performance like a true professional. The show was amazing, perfect stage set up, perfect lighting, the fans were all great, even met a fan outside that was holding a piece of paper with “Prostitots Rock” on it, which for those that don’t know, The Prostitots were my old band. I signed my first autograph of the tour for a fan of my band, which just felt awesome. After the show I met Erin and her husband (whose name I’ve forgotten, sorry) and hung out with them in the bar while the band came out and signed autographs for everyone still there. Erin invited me to her apartment in Seattle for a home cooked meal the next day, which I graciously accepted.

I probably Took more photos during this show then any of the others, so I have sepperated them into three sets for easy scrolling.

View the Pix

Woke up around 11 and around 1pm Mike and Sarah came over to take me out to see the town. For some odd reason there was a Purse Sale in the lobby of our hotel and a bunch of really rich chicks were in there browsing for new bags to keep their money in. I think I saw Paris Hilton get into a black Ferrari as we were leaving, however I’m not sure. We went to The Height Ashbury district to go shopping and get lunch, I spent most of the time looking for Mr. Bungle’s first album on Picture disc vinyl and Specimen’s 7” bat shaped single for “Returning from a Journey”. I’ve been searching for these two items for a few years now and still haven’t had any luck. San Francisco proved to be no different, though they did have some great stores. I bought a Boo Berry cereal plastic bank for Amber since she’s obsessed with that cereal for some reason, oddly so is Lucia so she thought it was really cool. We had Crepes for lunch, which I haven’t had since I was a child so that was cool. Went back to venue, no interviews tonight and no one new for the Horde so we relaxed and skipped all that. The crowd was Smaller but it was a fun show, I decided since I had so many pictures of the band at this point, I’d try something totally different and just have some fun. I went right into the mosh pitt with my camera in hand and shot the show from the fan perspective head on. Granted most of my shots came out blurrier than normal, there were still a few good ones and I had a blast doing it. After show hung out with Brian, Savoy and the fans till we left for Portland.

View the Pix

Walked around 10 blocks to a local restaurant to get lunch, which I felt was worth it cause it was a real local café type place and gave me a good feel for the city, which so far was the closest to reminding me to Philadelphia since I left home. I was a little late getting back and the guys from Re-Gen magazine were already there waiting for their interview. I found Sascha and we went down to the dressing rooms and set up the video interview. It was probably one of my favorites from the tour because it was a highly political interview with a lot of well-educated questions for the man on his opinions of the political future of America and the world. Sascha also talked about Newamericancentury.org, which if you haven’t seen, is a horrifyingly scary web page outlining the Republican’s New World Order and signed by many of today’s current government officials. It’s similar to Hitler’s Mien Kampf in the respect that it was out there and available to the world 20 years before he put it into action except no one took it seriously or took action to prevent it from happening. The first 10 years of the NAC proposal are already in effect including the entire outline of the war in Iraq and the Middle Eastern peace treaties. Very scary stuff.

After the interview I went outside to meet the Horde and we had a great lil meet n greet just inside the venue. Everyone was very cool and their were some extremely die hard fans here. I then went outside again and talked with the fans online. I hung out with Sarah and Mike for a while as well as a few others. Mike asked me if I wanted a tour guide for San Francisco since we were here for two days and I said give me a call tomorrow. It was a sold out show and the club Slim’s wasn’t all that big so the place was packed solid. I knew my friend Brian from Lauderdale was going to be in town to see the show so I searched for him for a while and eventually found him by the bar. The show was awesome and I got some great pix. After the show there was a small altercation over the states no smoking laws, but we got over it eventually.

Jules, Andy, Steve, Brian, Savoy and I went to what was supposed to be a “Glam” club but seemed to just be a normal trendy person club with girls dancing on podiums wearing Leopard print and a Bowie video playing on Mute under the Run DMC blaring over the loudspeakers. Needless to say, we didn’t really enjoy the place so we left and went back to the hotel. On the ride back I was just cracking up the whole time listening to Andy and Jules banter back and forth like some of the best comedy teams I’ve ever heard. It’s like Monty Python meets Terrance and Philip all the time with those two. I was rooming with Chris, our tour manager and I gotta say I loved whenever Chris and I had a chance to really talk because I just learned so much from him on this tour. I found out the next day that its also smart to be rooming with the guy paying for the rooms because ours seemed to be the only one with a working heater.

View the Pix

Woke up at 8am for what we lovingly referred to as “Check Point Charlie” the Nazi-like security check to get into Disney Land. Duncan and I joked around about snipers watching our every move in the shadows. I was ready for the full body cavity search but it turns out they didn’t have any of our info yet so we just went back on the bus and fell back asleep. I finally understood the Marilyn Manson Mickey Mouse/Nazi references though I still think the way he’s doing it is silly.

The Band hungry and decided to run out for food instead of going to the venue, which kinda sucked cause we had some interviews scheduled and due to me being drunk and really letting Vegas get the best of me the night before, I didn’t remember to prep Sascha for today’s press. I waited with the first press group for a while and then had to go meet Paul Gargano, the editor of Metal Edge, who was scheduled to do an interview and Photo shoot with the band. This day was pure chaos for me personally. I felt bad for everyone that I had basically dropped the ball on the interviews and wasn’t sure everything would work out, which happily, it eventually did. Anna Di-Antonio and I hung out all day waiting for the band to be ready for their photo shoot, but we also ran into the Disney SS guards who informed us we couldn’t set up outside of the House of blues because it was on Disney property which was all copy written. It’s hard to take a cop seriously when he has Mickey Mouse on his badge but these guys meant business and no one wants to get beat up by a Goofy Guard or the Pluto Police. We moved inside and eventually found a place that wasn’t on Disney Property or with Disney in the background. I cant say it was the best location in the world, in the hallway outside of the dressing room, but Anna is a professional and can make anyone look good in any situation. Plus the KMFDM guys always are funny to be around so she was having the time of her life posing them and just seeing them all sitting still in the same place at the same time was funny for me.

Paul eventually got his interview, which wasn’t with Sascha but with Raymond, which I was kind of happy about because he hadn’t done any interviews yet on tour and Metal Edge is great exposure for him, especially for his new project. The Horde meet N Greet wasn’t possible before the show so I talked to as many people as I found and we decided to do it post-show. It was going to be an interesting Aftershow because they decided to let the upstairs outside bar stay open and just have anyone that stayed be welcome. So no passes to give out, it was open for all.

Pre-show Anna bought me a few drinks and we just sat and finally relaxed in the outside bar overlooking Disneyland. We talked for a long time and discussed the music industry and Photography and I learned a hell of a lot and made what I hope to be a long lasting friendship.

Once the show started I relaxed and just enjoyed my job as photographer. They looked great and sounded incredible and after a long stressful day I actually just had fun at the show and with the crowd.

After the show we had the Meet N Greet outside on the side of the venue, but somehow we wound up having around 30 people instead of the expected 10-15. It was also a lot smaller out there then I expected so it was sort of what I could gently refer to as a cluster-fuck, however I wasn’t too worried since I knew everyone would have a chance to meet whomever they wanted to meet outside upstairs at the balcony Aftershow anyway. Two fans, Jen and her boyfriend, whose name I unfortunately can’t recall at the moment, had brought two custom made KMFDM guitar bodies for Jules or Steve. They were really cool and great people. I loved the guitar with the American flag on it with the stars as hammers and sickles.

Once we all moved to the upstairs outside balcony I was able to relax again, have a few drinks with fans and just have a good time. Everyone I met was really awesome and I look forward to going back to Anaheim again, one of my favorite shows despite being such a stressful day, everything worked out in the end.

View the Pix

*** sorry for the delay... here are the rest of the entries for the end of the tour***

I woke up with a nick-fit and realized I had only two ciggy’s left. I went into the venue and decided since I Love casinos I should go on a smoke-hunt. I went to the monorail and took it to the Luxor Hotel, which if you haven’t seen or heard about is based on the Great Pyramid in Egypt, except its made of glass. It’s very impressive to see and the sheer size of their Egyptian reproductions is amazing. Being a big fan of slot machines , Las Vegas is not a good place for me to be, but oh well, when in Rome… I found smokes and then went to Excalibur Casino on the way home. I only dropped around $20 between the two so not too much damage was done (till later). I was however buzzed from free drinks by 1pm.

Steve wanted to check out the resort, since we were at Mandalay Bay. We walked through the hotel and down to the ground floor outside to the “bay” area where there were tons of swimming pools, including a fake beach with sand and a wave pool, which unfortunately was blocked off because it was the off season. We sat by the pool for a little while relaxing and I called my friend Mikey just to save “Vegas Baby” since we’re both big fans of the movie “Swingers” and this was my first time here.

Upon returning to the House of Blues I had a bit of free time due to not having any interviews and a small guest list, so I figured I’d gamble a bit before the Horde. Unfortunately Vegas is a very seductive town and its not one you want to just stay in the venue for, so when it was time to do Horde , the band were no where to be found. I searched around a bit and eventually found Steve, Andy and Jules and brought them to meet a few dedicated fans in line early.

I’d love to say this was a good crowd, which in some aspects it was a pretty hardcore crowd, but very far from a sellout, as Lucia said in her journal, Vegas isn’t really a town people go to to see an industrial show. Its more of a Wayne Newton town then a KMFDM town. Kirk and Jackie that I had hung out with earlier on the tour, were at the show and we had a great time just hanging out and chilling, Kirk’s a photographer and Jackie’s a model so we just snapped off a bunch of funny pix of me and Jackie. After the show I went out to gamble some more before our early bus call at 1am. I hung out with two awesome younger fans that weren’t old enough to gamble but made excellent company for Kenny and I at the slots. They were waiting to meet Sascha and Lucia but unfortunately they were both off on the floor somewhere so we just waited. All in all I probably dropped about $150 and didn’t really win anything, but I had fun. Since we hadn’t seen Sascha or Lucia yet and it was time for bus call I had my new friends come with me to the bus and asked Sascha if he’d mind them coming on to meet them. Of course he said sure and after waiting several hours with me in the casino it all paid off and they spent the next half hour with the band on the bus getting pictures, autographs, etc. They were very happy and seeing that made up for me losing so much money.

view the pix

Ok, I should say first off that I’ve had a lot of friends move to LA or from LA over the years and everything I’ve ever imagined about this place was negative. That being said, I had an amazing time here and would go back (To visit) any time!

We were at the House Of Blues right on the Sunset Strip, I woke up, took a shower and called my friend Shok to go out to lunch and see the town. About an hour later (LA traffic) he picked me up and we went to the Rainbow Bar and Grill. Having grown up a Guns N Roses, Faster Pussycat, Motley Crue fan, this place was legendary and I just had to check it out first. Steve and his friend Julien (ex-Nitzer Eb) were already there and we sat at the table next to them and all chilled over our meal.

After The Rainbow we wanted to go shopping, Julien had to take off for a bit so Steve joined Shok and I to head to Melrose. We passed the street that Johnny Depp lives on when he’s not in Paris, I’m a huge fan, so yeah hehe. Shok’s Girlfriend Veronica works at Shrine on Melrose (Gothic clothing store) so we started there. Everyone was actually very nice and polite, not the snobby stereotype I’ve been told all these years and we had a great time just shopping. I was on a quest to buy Amber some cool gifts and when I found the Wind up Toy store I knew I’d have some luck. I got her a Metal Wind up Robot, Nightmare before Xmas windup Jack and Sally, a bobble head Pug (ok that was for me) and a lil plastic wind up Pig, that I later had everyone in Pig sign. We ran into Jules and hit the rest of the strip.

At one store I saw a very cool Ramones shirts…Duncan from our tour has basically been my mentor since we roomed together the first night and has been looking out for me since it was my first tour, I wanted to thank him so I bought him the shirt. He really loved it since it's not one you ever see and it made me feel good to let him know everything he’s done has been appreciated.

Steve and Jules each bought a couple of new shirts and we headed back to Sound check. Tommy lee was supposed to show up (Though he didn't) cause half our crew used to work for him. Even though he didn't show, it was fun watching Steve, Jules and Andy knock out "Live Wire" by Motley Crue during soundcheck.

It was an early show and we were all running late so we didn’t really have time to do a proper meet n greet, but we made sure to find the fans that were there and quickly talked to them outside and signed autographs. The doors were opening and the line of kids outside looked great. I took a bunch of pictures of everyone and got to know a girl named Maissa for a while, who was in a corset that looked like it was going to explode at any minute.

I hung out for a while with Michelle (Our monitor guy Steve’s gf) and her best friend Britney. Eventually I went in for the show and Photographed what I could of it. It wasn’t easy to get a good angled shot, but some of the ones I got were my favorite of the tour. I especially love the Full group on stage shots I got tonight and will be making the full sized versions available for Desktop downloads, since I used one of them on my laptop for the rest of the tour.

I talked to Paul Gargano from Metal Edge Magazine for a while and we reminisced over the old days in New York when I knew him through Jack off Jill. Was great to catch up with him and I was looking forward to hanging out again when he interviewed the band in Anaheim in two days.

The After show party wasn’t really my thing, too many people shmoozing and name dropping, which I love to do being a PR person, but not in LA for some reason, it’s just no fun there. I sat on the couch in the dressing room and just watched everyone. Shok was having a great time talking to Paige from Orgy, Lucia was with her Promotions crew from Universal, all of whom were very nice and cool to finally meet Durand after talking to him online every day.

After the After Show, Steve, Jules, Andy, Clint from 16Volt and I went to a small bar down the street and relaxed with a few drinks. I ordered a Double Malibu with Coke and the bar tender told me that’s Judd Nelson’s house drink there. Lol. We met a really nice guy from DC who directed music videos and I gave him a Lucia CD and all our info just incase he wants to work with her in the future. Ruban Studard from American Idol fame came in with his posse, but we barely noticed other than the fact that it was kinda funny.

Headed back to the bus and off to Vegas… Sin City here I come!

View the Pix!

November 18th Phoenix AZ. Marquee Club

Yesterday we had the Day off to travel from Tulsa to Phoenix. Since our bus drivers are under contract not to drive for over 8 hrs at a time, we had a layover in Las Cruses NM. I feel bad for anyone that actually lives here, granted it was a Monday night and we got in after 6, but my lord what a dead place. Went out to dinner with Doc, Dave (Bile), and Bear (Bile) at a little Italian place I couldn’t smoke in. It was great to finally have a real long conversation with Doc, he’s one of the oldest school people in the KMFDM camp, having toured with them since Angst (I think) and his Goth roots are amazing. Not only did he see Joy Division live, but he’s also toured with Bauhaus. However our conversation was more directed to career and business ideas and it was great to just get his insight since he’s been there done that for pretty much everything in the music industry.

Got back to the Hotel and went swimming/hot tub with Steve, Jules, Andy, Krstoff and our tour manager Chris. Later just hung out in the hotel room with Raymond, the Pigs, Kenny and Duncan. It was just a great relaxing, funny, bonding kinda day.

The next afternoon we were in Phoenix AZ. The club was awesome, very spacious and nicely laid out. There was an outside smoking area out front connected to the bar and within the club walls and it was a beautiful day out.

I met some of the fans front (already at 12 noon!) and found out 2 of them will be following us for the next four days !! Wahoo I love die hard fans

My friend Val, who runs Synthlox.com showed up and we went to lunch. After that I took care of an interview that Sascha had gotten himself into with some guys that just showed up. We did another great interview inside and then had the Meet N Greet. Everyone had a great time and was very cool.

My friend Bill showed up next and for those of you that aren’t familiar, Bill is the one who printed the < PUG > t-shirts for me. He’s an awesome guy that works at the US Screen Printing Institute, and came bearing gifts for everyone. < PIG > “Every Hole is a Goal” and “Red Raw and Sore” panties for Raymond, as well as a couple new PUG shirts for him. And for Steve White he brought a “One and Only the Great” shirt! This guy just gives and gives and makes all of us so F’in happy, I just want to thank you so much for all you do Bill, we love ya.

The show its self was great as always, but after this many its difficult to write up a good review of them simply cause I’ve been spending most of my show time either just photographing or meeting the fans and unfortunately, when your looking through a camera at a concert, I cant really say “Revenge” was great tonight, because well.. “Revenge” is great every night, all the songs are. I still love seeing this band live every single night and the set is amazing from start to end. It was another great photos night, i think i took around 400 and posted close to 350.

After the show a bunch of us piled into trucks and various cars and headed over to a small bar for some drinks. The Pigletts (Andy, Steve, Jules) went with some of their new friends and I went with Tyler and Val. The bar itself kinda sucked but we made the best of it till they closed and kicked us out. Lots of laughs as always.

View the Pix!

Wow, where to begin… Woke up and met the three guys who had talked to me a few times on the phone about setting up a BBQ for the band and crew today…I didn’t really know what to expect, I figured a few burgers, some dogs, etc… these guys ( Caleb, Josh and David) were amazing. Turns out one of them , I believe Caleb was his name was a professional Chef… they had a full BBQ grille, 4 rotissary Chickens, 2 racks of Ribs, 2 Chocolate Cakes, a Peach Pie, Burgers, Dogs, You name it, these guys just blew us all away. The band woke up kinda groggy and run down, but the minute everyone saw the BBQ there was a new life in the camp. Everyone feasted for a while and then I went out front to check out the line. Tons of people were already outside and it looked like it’d be another great show. The venue was probably a lil too big for the crowd, since the capacity was much larger than we’d been doing. The place looked half empty from inside but My lord was the performance worthy of a massive stadium. I took more pics of the band tonight then the entire tour, ( which is why it’s taken so long to do this update, I had to organize a lot of stuff) and I think some of them are the best of the tour. The band ruled tonight, and the fans were just amazing. I hung out most of the Night with Jessica, Kat and their group of friends, one of which was wearing a Specimen Shirt, which I thought only I had.

After the Show everyone came out and signed autographs and took pix with the fans as always. We all had an amazing time in Tulsa and I can’t wait to go back.

I didnt count them, but I believe there is close to 350-400 pix here. Phoenix review coming soon as well as the rest!

See the Pix

As soon as I got off the bus I found the runner Meredith and went to the Hotel, planning on work and a shower. She was a total doll and has been doing this for around 5 yrs, starting with Nsync and working up to KMFDM, at least that’s how I see it. Unfortunatly the problem with having a laptop and finding a solid Net connection with this group of people is that when you find one, and attempt to do some work such as journal entries, everyone has to check their email. I believe today it was Raymond that prevented me from getting anything done.

I finally got my Laundry done and arrived back at the venue feeling refreshed, clean and ready for an awesome show. We all went out to dinner at a Steak place around the corner, and I splurged a bit and had the NY Strip. Steak is really good in Dallas so I just had to go for it. It was me, Sascha, Lucia, Raymond, Jules, Steve, Andy, Matt, Kenny, Brent, Kim and her dog Blue. Chris Martinez from the San Antonio show and his friends were walking down the street so we invited them all to join us as well. They may not have gotten to take KMFDM out to lunch, but they finally got to eat with us.

The line wrapped around the building and I walked around meeting everyone and taking pictures. I stopped and talked to Laura for a while who was a sweetheart. As I was walking around the line I noticed that Sascha was doing the same thing and thought again how cool it is that the singer/founding member of the band everyone is going to see, doesn’t hide from them and actually approaches his own fans just to say hello.

I met some awesome people at this show, however my memory sucks right now and Holee, Meredith’s friend is the only name that stands out for some reason.

Security was really tight due to a stabbing at a Stained concert a few months ago, so we stood by it to make sure our fans were treated fairly, personally I hated the security at this place, they were nice to my face and when I was around but then treated our fans like shit when we weren’t standing there. They even had one kid throw away his Horde pass and said it was no good there. Once I found that out I went into the trash can and found it for him. I understand doing your job and keeping everyone safe, but there’s no reason to be a dick just to be a dick.

The show was great as always but half way through someone threw a can or something at the stage and hit Raymond… Whoa nelli did they ever fuck with the wrong people… Our crew swarmed like sharks around a wounded fish, diving into the crowd to get this guy as Raymond, Sascha and Lucia took turns throwing insults and attacks at this dickhead from stage. Duncan, Steve and Kenny eventually got into the right area but couldn’t find the asshole. The show resumed with a new intensity, it was a bad situation obviously but lead to the band storming back with a Punk rock intensity that reminded me of early Guns N Roses more than KMFDM. They screamed out “Bullets Bombs and Bigotry” and finished the set with power till the end.

The only other funny highlight of the show was the Trash bin outside, which had “NO THEIVIN” on one side and “DON’T EAT OUR TRASH” spray painted on the other.

View the Pix!

I started my day by jumping in the car with our Runner for the day, Jon, and going to Best Buy and Wall Mart to get batteries and a new Power Source for our tour manager Chris’s computer. It was nice to just get out of the camp for a few and see the local town. Jon was really cool and is in a band that has a hell of a lot of potential called, Emily’s Gone Mad. Very fun morning and a nice break from the routine.

When we got back to the venue there was a BBQ going from the “restaurant” outside the venue, I say that in quotes because all it was, was a big BBQ shack and a small building next to it for placing orders. We sat outside the back of the venue and Sascha and Raymond were sitting on the flight cases, which hold the back-line equipment, they roll and we were on a hill. Raymond made a joke towards Sascha and the war was on. They were both rolling around the parking lot being pushed by our crew screaming “GERMANY VS. ENGLAND!!” and trying to push one another down the little hill. Once “WWIII” was over Sascha bought food for everyone in the crew and we had a lil BBQ picnic, which as always with these guys, was hilarious.

We only had two Horde members show up at 6, and I feel HORRIBLE because I cant seem to remember the guy’s name even though we spent most of the day together. That’s one of the problems with writing these things a few weeks down the line instead of the day of, which I should have done. I believe it was Mike and Vanessa. They were both awesome people and I wound up going to the local goth club with them later that night.

A few minutes into the Horde a group of four more people, Chris Martinez and his friends showed up and met the band as well. We all hung out on the bus and chatted for a while. Chris had wanted to take the band to lunch but due to our time schedules there was no way to do that.

The show itself was fun, small venue but a great show none the less. I think places like San Antonio are awesome to play cause no one ever remembers to play there, so the fans really appreciate when the bands do take the time and effort. Afterwards we met all the people that stuck around and then I went with Mike (?) and Vanessa to the Goth club and met up with the boys from < PIG > for some drinking. The goth club ( sin something) was a really good time cause the DJ’s were really excited to have KMFDM in the house and kept announcing we and bile were there and telling everyone to buy us drinks. Unfortunatly the only people that bought me drinks were Mike and Steve White, either way, I was kinda buzzed so it was fun. We all did a shot or two together and then headed back to the Venue to jump on the bus.

View the Pix

Houston was an important personal errands day for me more than anything, so this entry may be short and sweet cause half my day was running around with Brent and Rob trying to get Money Orders and Overnight Shipping to pay my rent.

I arrived back at the venue and met the Horde for the day, all nice people, but we didn’t really have time pre-show to fit them in, so I was told we’d have to do it after the show somewhere. Then we did a pre-show interview on our bus with Jules and some local college kids. I love when Jules does interviews cause a) they’re always funny b) its just a different perspective then I hear from Sascha on the whole KMFDM world. Its fun to hear the English take on their history and career.

I really liked the layout of this venue, it was sort of a baseball diamond shape with the stage at an angle and it just looked great for a show. Indeed it was. The band rocked tonight and the pitt was awesome. I got some descent pix but they don’t really reflect how great the show itself was due to not having the best angles to shoot from.

I was walking around during the show and a girl came up to me, she introduced herself as Jamie and then again as “Communique” on Firefly, which was the very first chat program/page I ever used on the internet. In fact its where a lot of my friends and I learned HTML to begin with. I first met her in 1993 and we drifted in and out of touch several times since then, most recently when my friend Anna moved to Houston for a little while (She’s back in NYC now) and they realized they both knew me. It was really cool to randomly bump into people that I never really thought I’d ever meet face to face and spoke to so long ago.

I then met Nicky and Rachel who were under the impression that a photo pass meant video was ok, I had them stop filming but they were really cool people and we hung out the rest of the night getting to know each other. Nicky and I exchanged life stories and bonded and I invited them both to the Dallas show, where Sascha said they could film since it was for personal use only and not for release. I hung out with Dani and a few other people and eventually once the show was over we finally did the Horde Meet N Greet, behind the venue, next to the bin… which lead to some Andy jokes of course.

View the Pix!

One of my all time favorite Cities in America… The Sleaze, Debauchery, Food… I love New Orleans. This was my second time here, having come down for a vacation with my friends Carrie, Anna and Elizabeth in 96.

I started my day by going to Bourbon Street with Kathy (who came along with us since she still hadn’t seen a show) and Dave (Bile – Guitar), We all knew each other before this tour from NYC clubs, so it was fun to be on the road with familiar faces. We walked around the French Quarter for a lil bit in search of food and shopping. We found a place called “The Lil Easy” for lunch a few blocks off Bourbon St., Kathy had the Gumbo, I had the Jambalaya, Dave being the ever adventurous one had the Cheese Burger.

After lunch we walked around a bit and I bought some stuff at the Voodoo shops. On the way back to the venue we saw some people dancing in the street and doing acrobatics, some sidewalk artists and of course squatters begging for money. Dave and Kathy went back to the venue, however I noticed there was a Harras Casino in the way of my path back to the venue. Since I have only gambled before in Atlantic City, I had to see how my luck would be elsewhere. I went in with $40, walked out with $30, I’ve done worse, I’ve done better.

I got back to the venue and watched sound check with Kathy, eventually my friends Holly and Ashton showed up. It was great to meet them both finally having talked to them online for quite a while. I did some work in the production office for a lil while and found it funny that amongst the numerous photos on their wall there was a picture of George W. Bush with a fake autograph next to a real autographed photo of Kapt’n K.

The show itself was a lot of fun, I sat up on the closed top balcony to take pix of the show, I had a great view/angle when sitting down but when I finally stood up to switch positions I realized that my legs were BOTH asleep and the whole floor was shaking, so I was Damn close to falling down. I balanced myself somehow on the rail and eventually my legs woke up.

I went outside for a little bit and a girl asked me if my name was Jeff, I said yes and she probed deeper asking if I was from Jersey, my last name, etc… I figured she had just recently read my web page or something. After another minute she told me her name was Jen and we used to talk in the Marilyn Manson chat room on Shlee’s page in 1995. We even talked on the phone several times and just randomly re-met here now at the show. Wow, small world considering she wasn’t really a huge KMFDM fan, she was just going to check out a good show and recognized me.

It’s a very very small world. Touring makes it even smaller.

View the Pix!

Ft Lauderdale/Orlando

November 10th Ft Lauderdale.

We arrived at the venue at 12 noon only to find out that the cops were there, apparently the venue caught on fire a few months ago and closed down, they planned to re-open today for our show, but weren’t up to fire-code yet. So the show was cancelled. We felt horrible for the fans but were also kinda relieved to have a day off in Ft. Lauderdale. I called a few of my local friends to make plans and started my day. I went with Steve White, Rusty, Earnesto, and a few other guys from the crew to a lil restaurant bar on the corner and we all had lunch. Sascha and everyone went across the street to a seafood place and eventually we all met up over there. Our tour manager, Chris decided that it was time that I got drunk cause I haven’t really been ‘letting go’ much on the tour and needed to have some fun, so he, Steve and Skip all bought me a round. I asked the waitress what drink had the most alcohol in it and then had her add 151 to the second two. I was pretty sloshed by the time I left that place. It was raining badly and near hurricane type winds, so I of course thought in my drunken stupor that now would be a good time to go walk on the beach.

I eventually found my way back to the hotel and then the bus where I passed out cold till my friend Kaylah called me. As I was waiting for Kaylah and Adam to arrive, I got a call from my friend Kathy in NYC. I had told her to feel free to come to the FL shows since I knew she had family and friends down here, and she flies for free due to her mom working for the airlines. However, that was three months ago, I didn’t think she’d remember.. sure enough she did. Kathy arrived with her friends Matt and Rachel and then Kaylah and Adam got there.

Once we all were organized I found the Pig boys (Raymond, Andy, Jules, and Steve) and Kenny, Iron Jeff and Matt and we all headed out to the Lauderdale bars. We decided first to go to the bar next to the venue and see if any fans were around. The bar itself was dead but there were still some left over fans from the non-show around. We met them all and invited them out with us to the next bar, The Elbow Room. Brian was one of the people there and he and Kathy were already old friends, we bonded quickly. He’s also a photographer and we seemed to have a lot of friends in common. Brian was also taking pix all night so I’m sharing his as well as my own. Granted these aren’t your typical "KMFDM Pictures" but since they do involve members of the band just hanging out, we thought you’d want to see them even though there not from a show.

We all had a good time at the bar and it was fun to see the fans and the band just hanging out, I only wish we had made it to the venue a bit earlier and found everyone… that would have been some party!

We got back to the Hotel and said our goodbyes, I invited Kathy and Brian to Disney world with us for the next day and they graciously accepted to the offer and decided to follow our bus to Orlando.

November 11th – Orlando Fl.

I woke up and used Kathy and Brian’s hotel room for a shower, got online in the Hotel Lobby and posted a small update about the lack of show. We only had a dialup there so it wasn’t good for posting a major update. We went to lunch and then eventually once everyone was up plans were loosely made for Disney World. Steve, Jules and Chris (Our Tour Manager) had already gone over so we left on our own and went to catch up.

We found them pretty quickly, seems as if British Tattoo covered weirdo’s stick out at Disney world. We decided since we already “Declared war on Walt Disney…” that this was a Recon Mission for zee Kapt’n. Ya know… Scouting out the lay of the land for the ground assault. Etc. We had a lot of fun all day, enjoying Space Mountain the most. Kathy and I decided everything there would make a good Goth Club if used correctly. Its amazing how Dark and Morbid some things in Disney world really are, not that I’m complaining.

At the end of the Night we all watched the Fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle and took a bunch of pix. We took a cab back to the Hotel and went out to dinner at Orlando Ale House, which was some of the best food on the tour by far.

The Two days off were awesome and we got all the rest we all desperately needed, Now back to the shows!!!!

View the Day’s Off Pix

November 9th Tampa Fl. Masquerade

I really liked this Venue, The masquerade in Tampa. I am not sure why exactly, I Just got a good vibe. The day started with an interview for Sascha being switched over to Lucia because he didn’t feel very well. The couple doing the interview did a great job as did Lucia, of course, and it should be a wonderful interview. They really dove deep into Copywriting and Mp3 Piracy and Lucia didn’t hold back any thoughts at all on that issue. The reporters were thrilled to have a first person true young artist opinion on how it affects them directly and what really happens when you download music.

After the Interview I went out to dinner with the reporters, whose name I forget right now, I think it was Ben and Mary, but I could be horribly wrong so please forgive me. We were in Y’bor city, which is a trendy New Orleans want to be type shopping area full of restaurants and bars. I found a place for a burger and fries and a few minutes after our food came, Jules joined us for dinner as well. I love the fact that these guys will just sit and eat with their fans, they’re famous rock stars but have no pretension about it at all and love talking to you as much as you love talking to them.

On the way back to the venue I saw Matt getting his first Tattoo finished and bumped into Lucia and Sascha. Matt got the KMFDM skull from symbols inside the Explosion from Symbols. It looks great. Very Rock-N-Roll.

The Meet N Greet was really fun, Kate from Atlanta drove down to the show so we loved having her familiar face around for the day. I had some Posters that Sanctuary sent me and I gave them to all the Horde members to get signed. I’ll try and continue to do that till I run out of them or unless I forget as I did a few times since. I finally got a “tall” picture of Jules, since he’s shorter than a lot of people he hates when I take pix of him next to people towering over him. So he jumped on a chair and I snapped the shot. Great photo. I also met the guy that runs Ripthesystem.com and got to hang out with him a bit.

The line stretched around the building again and I met some great guys in the front that I had a long conversation about PHP and web design. Once inside I met Xzanthia, Belinda, and a few other people. Xzanthia was really awesome and gave me a shoulder massage that I desperately needed. Turns out besides just being hot and fun to hang out with, she’s also a fire breathing singer for the Impotent Sea Snakes in her spare time! Lol. She informed both me and Bear from Bile that our long lost friend Pat Briggs (Psychotica) is now IN the Impotent Sea Snakes as well. Wahoo we found Patt!!! One of the coolest people I’ve ever known and he just disappeared off the planet for the past 4 years. Glad to know where he is now. Xzanthia also introduced me to my friend Kym that I had been talking to online for around 4 years.

The show itself was fucking awesome. KMFDM was doing it again and it was truly a treat for the freaks. I actually had a photography pitt again and got some amazing shots of Lucia and Raymond from this performance. Matt, our Documentarian for the DVD was on stage tonight so you may see him in several of the pix but he’s just as much part of the band as anyone at least in my eyes.

After the show we hung out with fans outside the venue for a while, I wanted to take more pix of the after show fun and signings but my batteries were dying so I wasn’t able to do so.

View pix of the Show!

November 8th Atlanta Georgia

I woke up rather hungry today, stumbled out of the bus and saw a girl with striped leggings already waiting in line, it was around 2 and there was already people waiting. I met Kate and asked her if there was anywhere to grab food, she took me to a cool lil Mexican place in the five points; Atlanta’s shopping/food area.

The Meet N Greet went off very well after dinner and everyone had a great time as always. Afterwards I decided to walk around the line, which was now stretched out around the building and down the street. I met Julie and Amanda (I think that was her name) in the middle and we started talking about Lucia. Julie was on Lucia’s street team and really wanted to meet her in person. I gave them passes and talked to them for a while, both really cool girls from Tennessee that drove down to Atlanta for the show.

I hung out in the line till doors opened and then a lil bit after just to make sure all the press types got in ok. It was a fun line and everyone I talked to was really nice. A few people recognized me from this journal and we chatted a bit about how the tour has been so far.

When the show started I watched the first two songs from the stairs and started to snap some pix. I felt a tap on my shoulder during WWIII and looked over to see Mr. Raymond Watts was standing behind me watching the show as well. Since he doesn’t make his grand entrance till the third song, he decided to go in the audience and watch the first two. I love when people do that, its fun to see the singer being a fan of the rest of the band.

The show its self was intense, I was right up front with the crowd in the front row area since there was no real photography pitt to speak of and I didn’t want to be in the band’s way by being too close. I was a bit concerned about my camera and the kid slam dancing by himself next to me but everything went ok. Raymond came out hanging himself with the American Flag again, and everyone in the band seemed in good spirits. The performance was loud, hard and full of energy as was the crowd. Lots of Crowd surfing and people hurling their own bodies with wreck lace abandon.

After the show I played a game of pool with my friend Lauren and eventually watched as all the people got everything signed and photos taken. I went out to the parking lot and hung out with a bunch of fans for the next hour while the crew tirelessly loaded out the building. Andy, Steve and Jules invited me to a goth club, but I declined to stick around and rest up, still not quite over that bug. Lucia had a lot of fans there tonight and I made sure to give them all some CD sampler Singles because we SOLD OUT of her CD and hadn’t received the new shipment yet. She then came out and signed them all. One fan had a George Bush talking doll that we all had fun watching and Sascha drew all over.

That was basically the end of the night and then on the busses to Tampa.

View pix of the Show

November 7th Charlotte NC

I survived the North East. Barely. Back on the road finally and moving steadily away from home, we arrived in Charlotte NC. I love this city, always have. The first time I was here was in 96 when I was following the Marilyn Manson Anti-Christ Superstar tour, later my best friend Dink and I went down to NC again to stay with our friends the Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13. I hadn’t been back since 1997 or 98 so it was a nice feeling. I got up early and went inside the venue to check it out, immediately flooding back memories of the FDQ shows.

After a small meet n greet, I decided to check out the line and say hi to everyone that was waiting outside. I walked around and everyone seemed to know that I was the webmaster and wanted their pix on the page, which I thought was awesome. One fan gave me two Mindless Self Indulgence CDs because he had read that I loved them, he gave me a copy of the new yet unreleased EP that he got from Jimmy Urine himself. Nice. I’m not about to go asking for gifts cause I think that’s cheesy, however I really sincerely appreciate stuff like that and thought it was a very nice thing to do. Thank you.

Everyone seemed really excited for the show, I talked to a bunch of people about how things were going on the road and I felt like I was getting rejuvenated after NYC-DC drained me. One girl had a “Kapt’n K For President” Custom T-shirt for Sascha, someone else had a banner for WWIII. It was great to see such enthusiasm and dedication.

I continued watching the people in line and photographing everyone as the line stretched down all the way to the back of the lot past the Truck. I met two girls in line, Megan and Satu, whom after talking to for a few minutes I found out they had met Dink too when he was here with Static-X a few weeks ago. The funny thing was I approached them, but they were supposed to give me a message from Dink anyway. It was just odd, though neither them nor Dink when I called could remember the message.

After a few minutes of watching the line move in, a young tall guy approached me. He had this look like he recognized me but wasn’t sure from where, I had the same look and he introduced himself as Rob… it only took me two seconds to figure out Rob… Robbie.. Seaweed…Frankenstein Drag Queens bassist!!!! Wahoo I found one of my old friends!

We caught up for a while and discussed his feelings on Wednesday joining the Murderdolls and using all FDQ’s songs. He seemed to have taken it well and is working on his own band,Graveyard Boulevard (graveyardboulevard.com) , whom I may help with the web page. I loved Frankenstein Drag Queens like family and I just want to see them all succeed with whatever projects, bands or endeavors they embark upon. Seaweed bought me a drink and introduced me to some of his friends and we just had a great time hanging out.

The place was packed and starting to get warmer and warmer as KMFDM took the stage. I helped my new friends Anna and Amanda get closer to the front and then tried to find a good camera angle for the show. Unfortunately when a club is this packed its hard to get good pictures. Some fans in the front row side saw me struggling and made room so I could get in front of the barriers in what would have been the photographers pitt. I was kinda caught off guard cause I just jumped in there and the next thing I knew Lucia’s face was less than a foot from my camera. Once I got my bearings I took a few good shots. Raymond came out draped in the American Flag so I was snapping pix like crazy since it was the first real prop I’ve seen him with on stage other than a bottle. The show was awesome but I couldn’t stand the heat of the room so I went and walked around the crowd for a while jumping back in every once in a while to snap a few more shots.

I met two guys that knew Zepp and liked reading my posts updating on his life, which I found kinda funny since although I try to personalize this diary to my experiences on the road, I still find it funny when people know the people I talk about and are happy to hear those updates as well.

After the show I introduced Satu and Megan to the band and Seaweed and I was happy to see them all making connections, since Satu worked for Much Music USA/Fuse and is moving to NYC in may to do the same. I figured she’d be a good connection for Seaweed and Lucia to have with their projects and Satu was happy to meet them as well.

Eventually I had to attend to my new duties so I said my goodbyes, did my thing and went to the bus. After talking for a long time, just bonding with Skip and then Duncan I eventually crashed.

Right now while writing this, I am sitting on my tour bus watching Almost Famous on DVD… obviously one of my favorite movies, If you enjoy these entries and read them daily, and HAVEN’T seen this movie.. go buy or rent it. It’s absolutely amazing. I just wish my fucking DVD would stop sticking at the best parts like “I am a golden…..freeze…God” lol oh well, ill clean it later.

View pix from the Show

I guess if Philly is my home-town and NYC is my secondary home, DC would be my third. I’ve seen a million shows here over the years and albeit an annoying drive, it’s not all that far from Philly (3.5hrs). My friends that I had seen in Philly the night before all went to Shampoo and wound up meeting up with Steve, Andy, and Jules, who gave them all MY number and told them to call me to get on the list for today’s show. I found this kinda funny. Mikey, Christie, Amber, and Neil would all be driving down for the show. I was also meeting up with my friends Meredeth and Iman from DC before the show and Linda and Tim during the show… So it was a rather hectic day considering I don’t actually live here.

I walked in the venue, which was very nice and actually had an awesome shower and dressing rooms. After showering I found my friend Filip who works there and caught up with him a bit. I had no idea he used to be in Nocturne and toured with Bile, that’s all news to me, I just knew Fil from the clubs. We made sure to invite our mutual friend Greg to the show and let him know we’d have him on the list. Oddly I think my list for DC was actually longer than my list for Philly, where I live.

Meredeth showed up around 3 or 4 and we hung out outside for a while while I tried to find food for lunch. It was great to finally meet her since we’ve been talking online for around a year.

We didn’t have time to do the meet n greet before the doors opened so we postponed it till Aftershow and made sure everyone had a special Horde Aftershow pass. Hopefully we’ll never do this again cause I think we may have lost a few people in the shuffle of the Aftershow mess.

I greeted Iman and it was great to see one of my best friends from the past year and a half again. She lives in DC, so I don’t see her all that often. I also saw Jerrica, Linda, Tim, Sally (Happy Birthday!) and eventually Greg showed up as well.

Around the time doors opened Amber, Christie and Neil showed up as did Mikey. I watched the show with Amber, moving around while taking photos. We eventually went to the top balcony and sat down right in the center so we could see the stage perfectly. I love this venue, the layout is great and the band just looked and sounded Phenomenal from where we were sitting. I took a buttload* of pix and most came out nicely.

The set was especially powerful and the whole building felt like it was shaking with the thunder of the bass and drums. I sat with Amber and Jerrica and watched KMFDM put on one of their best shows of the tour. The audience was loud as hell and started chanting after the set till they came back out and kicked more ass.

After the show we separated the Horde members from the rest of the Aftershow guests and took tons of pix and autographs as usual. We made it over to the bar and everyone was having a good time. I was near death-tired and ready to pass out, but I was still having a good time with Amber and Christie. Eventually everyone dispersed, I walked Amber, Christie and Neil to their car and went back inside to sit in the dressing room with Raymond and Sascha looking at Pix from the show and talking about our days.

- Jeff -

*word borrowed from Kap’t K’s vocab

View Pics from the Show

Day off was fun, was great to relax, see Amber and Elvis and do laundry. But now back to the shows…What a hectic day… Amber and I got to the Troc around noon and after a slow start we were thrown into the daily routine. We had an In-store set up for Digital Ferret CDs on South Street, however most of the details of this event were never shared with me, even though it seemed I was the one in charge of it. We spent the next two or three hours waking up the band, shuffling everyone to South Street and then we went out for Cheese Steaks with Matt.

The In-store was small but seemed to go well. Not really worth all the trouble it was, but it was good to see the few fans that sat there waiting for KMFDM, happy when they met them.

Later we arrived back at the Troc, Mikey and Christie showed up, then Johnnie and Gwen, Rickey, Tran and Ange, Duncan, etc… basically all my closest friends except Dink, who is still on the road with Static-X.

After saying hi to everyone Amber and I went to the side stage balcony and watched the show. I took a ton of pix and loved actually just watching the show instead of walking around for one night. The audience was the loudest so far and the mosh pitt started during the opening song and didn’t end till the encore. Philly was hot! I was proud of my home city and our fans.

After the show I walked Amber to her car, said my goodbyes to everyone and went on the bus to sleep hard.

The pix are by me and Mike Hender cause he was kind enough to bring me a disc in DC.

View pix from the Show

November 3, New York City.

I was told from the start that NYC would be a tough show, lots of family, friends, and a limited guest list, as well as press, Horde, etc etc. I woke up and decided to call my friend Anna at 8th Street Lab (Clothing store) and see if she wanted to get lunch. A few minutes later she called me back and said “Does Sascha have a blonde Mohawk?” I was like “yeah why” and she said “He just walked by my store, please make him come back!!!!!” , so I called zee Kaptain and he turned around and went to visit Anna at work. Later I hopped a cab and did the same, we went to pizza and then I walked back to the venue. I’m still not feeling 100% but I can see I’m getting better. Being NYC everything got pushed back a few hours. I was about to go buy the new DOPE CD Group Therapy, when our press person called me and said we had a Phone interview. I knew Sascha wasn’t available so I found Jules and he gladly accepted it.

The guest list and such was a lil bit of a nightmare, but that wasn’t the worst part of the evening…somehow, our bus door was broken and wouldn’t lock. Being low man on the totem pole and unfortunately the only one that doesn’t really have a job that the show itself depends on… I am writing to you now from inside our tour bus. I had to skip the whole show. Don’t feel too bad for me though, I am taking this time to update the journal entries and watching Nightmare Before Xmas on DVD. Hopefully after the show is finished someone else can take my place and I can go to the Aftershow party.

Tomorrow is my day off at home in Philadelphia. I cant wait to be home again for a day and a half. Mikey (my best friend) and Roz (his gf) are taking me home after the show tonight and I cant wait to recoup and get right back into things on Wednesday at my home town show in Philly!

Some pix coming soon... others from fans and friends will be posted as well, check back here and ill edit this entry later
